Things to do in Lake Country this fall

Fall in the Okanagan is a beautiful time of the year. With the changing colours of the leaves and the crisp autumn air combined with the beautiful view of the lake, what’s not to love? There are plenty of events and things to do in Lake Country in this autumn. 

Visit the Kangaroo Creek Farm

Did you know that Kangaroos live in Canada? Maybe you can’t see them in the rocky mountains or in the prairies, but you can certainly meet and feed these friendly furry animals at Kangaroo Creek Farm. Just a ten-minute drive away from Cadence at The Lakes, you can cuddle and hold a baby Joey! Meet wallabies, wallaroos and other exotic animals and learn about them. This unique experience is a fun and interactive way to spend the day with the kids and grandkids.

Have a picnic at Kaloya Regional Park

Kaloya Regional Park is a beautiful area to visit in the fall season. A 15-minute drive away from Cadence at The Lakes, Kaloya park is a perfect place to spend an afternoon walking along the trail on the lake and have lunch at one of the picnic tables. What better way to spend an autumn afternoon than taking in the fantastic scenery of Kalamalka Lake.

Explore the famous Okanagan Rail Trail

Take a leisurely walk or bike ride down the Okanagan Rail Trail. Stroll along Wood Lake on top of the old CN train track and stumble upon a waterfall! This is a great place to take a Sunday afternoon walk with a friend, loved one or your furry family member. The official grand opening of this scenic family-friendly walk is on Thursday, September 27th at 11 a.m. Refreshments will also be provided at the ceremony so be sure to bring your friends and family.

Support local at Lake Country Farmers Markets

There a couple different farmers markets in Lake Country for you to browse around for local jewelry and. You can also purchase some ingredients for your next delicious home cooked meal. On Fridays, visit the Lake Country Farmers Market located at Swalwell Park until the end of September. Every Sunday, until October 28th, is the new Sunday Farmers Market hosted by Kel Lake Greenhouses. What better way to spend a weekend than doing some shopping while supporting local vendors?
